Your guide to Instagram shoppable posts and why you should use them

Updated: Jul 1, 2021

54% of audiences purchased items in the moment or some time after seeing a product or service on Instagram. 36.2% of B2B decision-makers use the app to source new products and/or services. So what are shoppable posts?

Those posts with a clickable shopping bag icon that customers can click to purchase directly from, cutting the customer's journey from discovery to purchase.

So how do you sell via shoppable posts?

Meet the eligibility criteria

You need to:

- Sell physical products

- Connect your Instagram to Facebook business page here

- Convert your Instagram account into a business profile if it's not already

- Be an admin on a Page or Business Manager account

Product catalog

Upload your product catalog through FB business manager (through commerce manager) or an e-commerce partner like Shopify (you need to have the Facebook sales channel (included in all paid Shopify plans) installed on your Shopify store, which creates a Shop tab on your Facebook page).

You can easily add the Instagram Sales Channel to your Shopify store, "add sales channel" > Instagram > add channel > log into Facebook > once sales channel is installed, enable the feature in Instagram settings.

Check the setup guide here

Submit your account for review

Go to professional dashboard > set up Instagram shopping > select catalog > review details & hit "submit for review"

Tag Products

Upload image > next > tag products > tap on item in the image you want to tag > search for product & select it > hit "done" & share the image.

That's it, you're now ready to monetize your Instagram presence and get your followers to buy directly from your account, shortening the path between interest and purchase decision.
